It is only natural that the EU will attempt to use Turkey as its task force in the battle against the refugees. After all, no one in Europe knows how to handle this crisis. We may as well leave this dirty job to the Turks. 

Being a curious person I decided to ask my friends in the MOD why it takes the Brits ten years to build a ‘strike brigade,’ a task every other army around the world can easily accomplishes within two to three months.

The trials of Arthur Topham, Canadian journalist and publisher of Radical Press, for "hate crime" (2007) and "hate propaganda" (2012) under new Criminal Code “Hate Propaganda” legislation, have resulted in exactly the opposite of what the prosecution, B'Nai Brith, wanted. Instead of quietly muzzling the gadfly critic, the result has been the highlighting of past Jewish hate crimes, and the increasing control by Zionist groups of Canadian politics to promote Israel and censor anti-Zionist criticism.

Political Jews do and say what they believe to be ‘good for the Jews.’ Indeed, Jews don’t agree amongst themselves what is good for the Jews. Some believe that Jews should pretend to be humane, other believe that Jews should be seen as hawkish and aggressive. Accordingly 41% amongst young British Jews believe that saying that they support sanctions is good for the Jews because it makes the Jews look empathic and peace loving. But when it comes to questions on the legitimacy of Jews dwelling on someone else’s land, Jews apparently “speak as one.”  

For decades those who questioned the authenticity of Anne Frank’s diary have been castigated as vile holocaust deniers and anti-Semitic bigots. Jewish organisations have taken pains to defy any attempt to interfere with the Anne Frank legacy. Surprise, it is now the holders of the copyright to Anne Frank’s diary who insist that Anne wasn’t the only author of her own diary. Apparently, as some history revisionists, including Robert Faurisson, have been claiming for years; “The Diary of Anne Frank” was not what it claimed to be.

The combination of compositions of a modern jazz flair and always more-or-less middle-eastern flourishes makes for a band that sounds like no other. It is a musical entity very much on its own turf, but also a platform where Gilad Atzmon has a chance to shine forth beautifully. Frank Harrison gets some spotlight segments too and he captures an advanced pianism that makes him a worthy foil to Gilad.

If Mr. Topham intended to incite hate, would he really have changed his mind in the brief period between counts 1 and 2? We will never know what the jury relied upon; in yet another abrogation of free speech, the jury was threatened that if they spoke to anyone about their deliberations, they would be committing a criminal offense. How is the public supposed to understand the mysterious machinations of the term ‘hate’ without knowing what caused a jury to convict a fellow citizen of such a crime?

Meanwhile…Shortly before the verdict came in I recorded this interview with ex-Israeli philosopher-musician Gilad Atzmon, who may be the world’s leading expert on Jewish identity politics. When Arthur Topham was charged with “willfully promoting hatred against the Jewish people,” hauled into court, and menaced with a possible two-year prison sentence, Gilad flew to Quesnel, British Columbia to appear as an expert witness. Topham’s satire, published in 2011, was obviously intended to make Israelis and Zionists reflect on their politics following a decade of extensive Jewish lobby advocacy of more and more immoral interventionist wars (Iraq, Syria, Libya, Iran etc). ‘Israeli Must Perish!’ is a mirror placed in front of the forgotten Kaufman’s ‘Germany Must Perish!’ Presumably, Topham saw some applicability of a critique of Germany in 1941 to Israel and global Zionism today.

The Independent reported today that “a decision by Britain to refuse a group of Palestinian medical experts from Gaza permission to participate in an international conference at Kingston University on trauma in war zones has been condemned by campaigners.”
