Massoud Nayeri: U.S. Media and the Mighty Uprising in Egypt

Israel has rallied to the support of President Hosni Mubarak by allowing Egyptian troops into the Sinai peninsula for the first time since a peace deal was signed in 1979.
Fox News and CNN are leading a vicious misinformation campaign in the U.S. Media against the popular uprising in Egypt. Both networks are exaggerating the issue of “instability” in some cities in Egypt, such as Cairo. The fact of the matter is that Egyptians not only don’t see this as “instability” but as a victorious journey to a secure democratic society. During the 7 days of powerful uprising in Egypt, people in massive numbers are insisting on bringing an end to the 30 years of Mubarak’s brutal and corrupt police state and the numbers are growing on a daily bases. In the early days of the uprising, Mubarak - first by unleashing his infamous police force - killed over 100 people and arrested a multitude of activists and protesters. Then by pulling back his police thugs from the streets and ordering the army forward to select locations as a symbol of intimation thus purposely CREATED A SECURITY VACUUM. This move by the government allowed an opportunity for some robbers and thieves to openly break into homes and places of business and by looting and vandalizing, they created an atmosphere of fear and chaos in some areas of Cairo. Soon, the youth started protecting their neighborhoods by any means necessary. This instant mass response was reminiscent of what happened during the 1979 Iranian uprising where the youth took control of their neighborhoods for security when the Monarch (Shah) was toppled and there was no government in place. In Cairo, the youth in a few short days contained the activities of these thugs and arrested some of the looters. According to some reports, the neighborhood protection committees found the official Egyptian POLICE ID cards among those hooligans.

Gilad Atzmon: Jewish Power is Falling Apart

The British ADL watchdog CIF Watch seems to be very unhappy with the Guardian circulating the work of  the genius cartoonist Carlos Latuff

“How low will they (the Guardian )go? Asks the Zionist watchdog.

The Judeo-centric site defines Latuff as “one of the most prolific anti-Zionist and anti-Semitic cartoonists”. It is also outraged  with Latuff depicting “Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas as a sinister looking (gun wielding) Orthodox Jew.”

The Jewish site claims that much of Latuff’s work “expresses anti-Semitic themes. Some of his caricatures seem to suggest that Israel is a unique and immutable evil in the world.” I am afraid to disappoint the Zionist watchdog; the Jewish State is uniquely evil, and this fact has been exposed numerous times in the last years by UN fact finding missions.

The Zionist blog claims that Latuff’s work “includes imagery frequently suggesting a moral equivalence between Israel and Nazi Germany – and he has explicitly acknowledged that this is indeed his political view.” Again this is far from being a revelation. We all see equivalence between the ‘Jews only State’ and Nazi Germany.

The Latuff cartoon above depicts Sharon kissing Hitler. Indeed this is an appropriate representation of  the Sabra and Shatilla mass murderer

The above Latuff cartoon was published by Indymedia on Holocaust Remembrance Day. Indeed the most appropriate way to criticise the transformation of Palestine into a set of isolated concentration camps.

Gilad Atzmon Discusses American Foreign Policy on Press TV

 http://www.presstv.ir/usdetail/162623.html

The American foreign policy is at cross-roads. For decades, Washington has advertised equality and human rights in international circles. But, at times, the U.S. has contradicted its own alleged values, philosophy and democratic approach.

Some argue that America's self-interest supersedes the spread of democracy worldwide. However, there are those who say Washington's approach serves neither the national interest of Americans, nor does it promote equality and democracy.

So, the question arises: who then benefits from current American policies?

Press TV's U.S. Desk discussed the issue with Gilad Atzmon who is a political activist, musician and author in London.

Gilad Atzmon: Liberating the American People

Burning rage ... protester stands on blazing Cairo streetIn his latest Newsweek article Stephen Kinzer  wonders who  America is betting on to counter the popular  rising forces in the Middle East : “The same friends it has been betting on for decades” he answers.   “Mubarak’s pharaonic regime in Egypt, Mahmoud Abbas and his Palestinian Authority, the Saudi monarchy, and increasingly radical politicians in Israel. It is no wonder that Iran’s power is rising as the American-imposed order begins to crumble,” he concludes.

Kinzer explains America's stance succinctly and accurately : “The U.S. keeps Mubarak in power - it gave his regime $1.5 billion in aid last year -mainly because he supports America’s pro-Israel policies, especially by helping Israel maintain its stranglehold on Gaza. It supports Abbas for the same reason; Abbas is seen as willing to compromise with Israel and is, therefore, a desirable negotiating partner….. American support for Mubarak and Abbas continues, although neither man is in power with any figment of legality; Mubarak brazenly stage-manages elections, and Abbas has ruled by decree since his term of office expired in 2009.”

In the light of Kinzer's statement, the following questions surely need answering -- Why does America support those regimes, whose leaders' dictates, ideologies and methods of ruling are totally and openly incongruous with America’s alleged value system? And If America is genuinely concerned with the so-called ‘rise of Islam’, why then, did it eradicate Saddam Hussein’s distinctly secular regime? And if America is, as it claims, enthusiastic about encouraging  'non radicalised' secular Arabs, why is it constantly seeking conflict with Bashir Asad, leader of another secular stronghold? And If America does indeed champion democracy, why does it support the Saudi regime, Mubarak and Abbas? Why does it not seek friendship with the democratically elected Hamas?

In short American policy seems to be a total mess -- unless one is willing to openly admit that there is a clear coherent thread running through American foreign policy : it simply serves Israel’s interests.

Richard Falk Reponds

http://richardfalk.wordpress.com/

Because my blog prompted by the Arizona shootings has attracted many comments pro and con, and more recently has been the object of a more selective public attack on me personally, I thought it appropriate to post a supplementary blog with the purpose of clarifying my actual position and re-focusing attention on the plight and suffering of the Palestinian people being held in captivity. In the background, are crucial issues of free speech, fairness in public discourse, and responsible media treatment of sensitive and controversial affairs of state.

Gilad Atzmon: Jews against the King

Along the years we have heard about ‘Jews against Zionism’, ‘Jews against Racism’ and ‘Jews against anti Semitism’. In the last few days we have learned about a new Jewish collective. They are called ‘Jews Against the King.’

Apparently some Jews in Hollywood are not happy with the great cinematic success of The King’s Speech, the latest British film.

The King’s Speech follows the story of King George VI- a man who never wished to be King, and had trouble with his confidence and public speech as he had an uncontrollable stammer.  From a Jewish perspective King George VI was nothing but an anti Semite.

Hollywood blogger Scott Feinberg cites an anonymous email, supposedly from an Academy member, which claims the picture ignores George VI’s role in preventing Jewish refugees from fleeing Nazi Germany to Palestine.

"I'm an Academy member and there are a LOT of us who won't vote for The King's Speech for this reason," the email reads.

Feinberg speculates that the email may be part of “an orchestrated smear campaign”. Critics claim that George VI indirectly conspired with Hitler to prevent Jews from reaching Palestine, which at the time was under British mandate.

I guess that sooner or later Hollywood may have to liberate itself of its Holocaust driven agents.

Gilad Atzmon: The Palestine Papers and Us

I have a rule -- I never intervene in Palestinian political matters. I never comment on Palestinian internal debate. I do not think that I have the right to do so : I am an ex-Israeli and an ex-Jew, and I write about Israel, Jewish Identity politics, and Zionism.

For me, the leaked Palestinian Papers provide us with a valuable glimpse into Israeli politics and Western complicity in the crimes carried out against the Palestinian people.  I do realise that most Palestinian commentators agree that the leaked papers have “damaged whatever little credibility the Ramallah-based authority still enjoyed among Palestinians” ; yet, more than anything else, the Papers prove beyond doubt that Israel is  not a partner for peace -- In spite of the weaknesses that have been shown by the PA since the 1990’s, Israel has failed to secure a peace deal, and has consistently failed to show any will to bring the conflict to an end. In short -- Israel has always wanted more.

The Papers have also clearly shown that whilst Israel likes to present an image of ‘political pluralism’ , that is little more than a deception : there is not much difference at all between  Tzipi Livni and Avigdor Lieberman. Both are Zionist enthusiasts, and both are interested in a ‘Jews only state’ -- Indeed, just like Lieberman Livni too, offered to “transfer Israeli Arabs.”

Gilad Atzmon: Valley of the Wolves

Valley of the Wolves: Palestine is a new Turkish movie portraying the Mavi Marmara massacre as a premeditated Israeli attack that was set to kill innocent peace activists.

An uproar has erupted in Germany in the last few days over the upcoming launching of the film. The film's intended release date in Germany is January 27, the same day as the International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Apparently the German distributor of the film confirmed that the company had been unaware of the sensitivity of the date.  However, I actually think that linking between the events is not such a bad idea. If the International Holocaust Remembrance Day is there to remind us of crimes committed by a racist ethno-centric regime in the past, the Turkish film is there to awaken us to the colossal crimes that are committed by a racist ethno-centric regime in the present.  If Germans are genuinely interested in the Nazi past, they better look closely at Israeli current brutality.
