Many Western media outlets were delighted to report today that two Israeli women teamed up to become the first same-sex couple to compete in a version of the internationally popular television series “Dancing With the Stars.”

Indeed a great day for humanity.

Rupert Murdoch’s Sky news reported today that “thirty different countries have versions of the show, but none have done what Israel has this week.”

Israel is praised here for being an exemplary tolerant and liberal society.

Yet, I am slightly puzzled, if Israel is indeed as tolerant and liberal, how come it fails to dance with its neighbours?
