Kevin Barrett: Why Hate Gilad Atzmon?

(Gilad Atzmon will be speaking at the University of Wisconsin Madison tomorrow, Friday, March 9th, in 1111 Humanities, 7 to 9 pm. Musical festivities afterward.)

Gilad Atzmon is one of the sweetest, funniest, most charming and likable people I’ve ever met.

He’s also one of the world’s best saxaphone players. Gilad’s music is not only gorgeous, but uncommonly accessible for music in its class.

His writing, which includes two novels, a nonfiction book, and countless essays, is grounded in the highest humanistic ideals, invigorating laughter, and an irrepressible joie de vivre.

In short, Gilad is outrageously easy to like.

So why is he hated so much?

Why are his appearances protested by angry picketers? Why is the most vicious and mendacious kind of calumny being hurled at him in such quantities? Why is there an organized effort to make this gentle, loving free spirit out to be some kind of deranged Nazi?

His detractors say his writing invites it. But they’re wrong. The proof is that the anti-Atzmon brigade has to resort to lies (or to be charitable, gratuitous distortions) to make him look bad.

There must be some deeper reason why they hate him.

Maybe it’s because he’s such a powerful symbol of – and argument for – the end of Zionism.

Obama, Netanyahu & Esther

EstherWanderingWho

http://www.deliberation.info/

The Biblical Book of Esther that was given to President Obama by Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday was far from being a cryptic message. The Book of Esther is a genocidal recipe. It is there to educate Jews how to infiltrate into foreign administrations. In my latest book The Wandering Who I explore the role of The Biblical text in shaping contemporary Jewish political Lobbying and its open attempt to dominate American and British foreign policies. In contemporary American politics we detect the following.

  • Esther’s and Mordechai’s role is played by AIPAC and American Jewish Committee (AJC) - Both openly push for a war against Iran.
  • President Obama is the Persian king Ahasuerus. Like the Persian king, Obama is asked to kill the ‘enemies of the Jews’
  • Haman, the ‘murderous Antisemite’ is clearly Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and the Iranian people. In the Biblical tale, both Haman and his sons end up massacred.
  • And sadly enough repudiated queen Vashti, is played by the American people and humanity. seemingly, our prayer for peace and harmony is clearly ignored.

The Book of Esther (The Wandering Who? by Gilad Atzmon, Chapter 19)

‘Haman said to King Achashvairosh, “There is a nation scattered and separated among the nations [the Jews] throughout your empire. Their laws are different than everyone else’s, they do not obey the king’s laws, and it does not pay for the king to tolerate their existence. If it pleases the king, let a law be written that they be destroyed, and I will pay to the executors ten thousand silver Kikar-coins for the king’s treasury.”’ (The Book Of Esther, Chapter 3)

The Book of Esther is a biblical story that forms the basis for the celebration of Purim, probably the most joyously celebrated Jewish festival. The book tells of an attempted Judeocide, but also of Jews who manage to change their fate. In the Book of Esther, the Jews rescue themselves, and even get to mete out revenge.

It is set in the third year of the reign of the Persian king Ahasuerus (commonly identified with Xerxes I). It is a story of a palace, a conspiracy, the aforementioned attempted Judeocide and a brave and beautiful Jewish queen – Esther – who manages to save her people at the very last minute.

Jazz Musician and Outspoken Israeli Gilad Atzmon on AIPAC, Israel and Possible Attack on Iran

http://peterbcollins.com/2012/03/05/jazz-musician-and-outspoken-israeli-gilad-atzmon-on-aipac-israel-and-possible-attack-on-iran/

Gilad Atzmon is a talented jazzman who joins us to talk about his new book The Wandering Who? and offers candid commentary on Zionism, Israel, the US and much more.

Atzmon was born in Israel, and started to question his government after compulsory service in the Army.  American jazz led him to learn the saxophone, and he now sees his country, its government, and Zionism in a new light.  As Netanyahu visits Washington and the annual AIPAC conference is in full swing, here is a different Jewish voice calling for new approaches to the ongoing conflict.  Atzmon separates Zionism from Judaism, and predicts that the State of Israel will not be sustainable in the long term.  Atzmon clearly loves Israel, but deplores the hard-line treatment of Palestinians that are similar to the ways Jews were treated in Nazi Germany.  He has strong criticism for US support for extreme Israeli policies, and is very concerned about the prospect of a military attack on Iran.

Xymphora: The superficial, and the profound

http://xymphora.blogspot.com/

Fight between the Angry Arab and Gilad Atzmon.  I like the Angry Arab.  He has a lot of good contacts and conveys a lot of information you can't get anywhere else.  He means well (too well, perhaps).  Having said that, Atzmon clearly wins.  Change a few words of whining to gloating, and change the Angry Arab's website name to the 'Happy Jew', and the Angry Arab's site could be a Zionist site.  There is nothing there that challenges Zionism in any way (in fact, it is just a list of Zionist 'wins' for the Jews to gloat over).

The Angry Arab's problem is the profoundly emasculating political correctness of the American liberal arts university professor.  It makes any real criticism of violent group supremacism impossible.  The genius of modern Zionism, and the reason it has been so hard to eradicate, is that it finds ways to hide in those areas of group behavior that are impossible to criticize in modern liberal discourse.  It is impermissible to even hint that someone might be conspiring to act as part of a group for group supremacist ends.  It is the Jews, relying on Nazi treatment of the Jews as the exemplar, who have made this kind of criticism improper.  Since such criticism is impossible - and is generally called 'anti-Semitism' - we are helpless when faced with an extremely powerful and rich group (and by the way, I think such criticism is proper when used on behalf of a powerless group, which the Jews clearly are not), bent on violent group supremacist ends.  Stop them?  We can't even talk about them!  I find it hilarious that you can't discuss this stuff even during AIPAC Dominance Week.

Interpreting the Thoughts of Syafii Ma'arif, Gilad Atzmon and Israel-Palestine Issue

http://www.ugm.ac.id

Former Chairman of Muhammadiyah, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Syafii Ma'arif, M.A., assessed that the Israel-Palestinian conflict is not simply a matter of two different ethnic groups or nations, nor just a question of Arabs or Muslims. The issue according to Syafi’i is a humanitarian issue that demands everyone's responsibility.

"It is not just about the Palestinians, Arabs, or Muslims, but also Jews/al-yahuud," Syafii Ma'arif said in the Great Thinkers "Israel, Palestine, Islam and Peace" Discussion of Gilad Atzmon’s Thought, at Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada on Tuesday (28/2). The discussion explored a book written by Syafii Ma'arif entitled Gilad Atzmon: Critical Notes on Palestine and the Future of Zionism.

June Terpstra on the Atzmon Defamation League

by Dr. June Terpstra

PNG - 111.4 kb

Recently, a group calling themselves progressives sponsored an open letter in The Monthly Review (MR) opposing sponsorship of events featuring author-musician Gilad Atzmon, aiming to censor his free speech concerning the Israeli atrocities against the Arab people. http://mrzine.monthlyreview.org/201... This OpEd is written to assist them and readers generally, in recognizing moral imperialism and the cognitive dysfunction by decoding the behaviors displayed in their listserves, newsgroups and “Open Letter”. Instead of defamation this “league” could go out and do some concrete work amongst those who perpetrate Israeli oppression instead of collaborating with the oppressors by obstructing the efforts of Gilad Atzmon to address the real needs of the oppressed Arabs being killed, tortured and imprisoned by the Israeli entity and its imperialist allies.

With forked tongue the Atzmon Defamation League (ADL) claims to be anti-racist while they talk public smack about one of the few people with the courage to tell his experience of being raised within the Jewish state occupying Palestine, Gilad Atzmon. While Atzmon is speaking from personal experience for the liberation of the oppressed Arab people this so called “progressive” group opposes his alternative epistemic voice. The complaint against Atzmon, is that “he is racist”. This accusation is made in the classic tradition of assets of the state, the agent provocateur, and the cultural imperialist who thinks he or she “knows better” than those who actually experience the phenomena itself. Like the white anthropologist observing the native the group represents a privileged group of North American white people who hate and attempt to censor Atzmon’s auto-ethnographic narrative and philosophizing. They say that Atzmon is:

“Attempting to latch onto the just, vital, and growing movement in support of the Palestinian national liberation struggle” they manage. That “Gilad Atzmon is one of a very small and unrepresentative group of writers who have argued (in agreement with many Zionists) that there is no meaningful distinction to be made between Jews in general and Israeli atrocities.”

Obama, AIPAC And The Rest of US

By Gilad Atzmon

http://www.deliberation.info/

AIPAC

Yesterday at AIPAC annual conference, the American president had to go out of his way to appease his Jewish crowd. He used every trick in the book, he even peppered his talk with some Yiddish sporadic words and he did it all just to justify his decision not to launch a World War as yet.

One should ask, how come a lobby of a small state that practices the most appalling racist expansionist politics and practices has managed to gain so much political power in the USA.

As it happens, more and more academics and political commentators indeed ask themselves the exact question – they wonder what is it in American culture and political system that allowed it to happen? I am also interested in a very similar quest. I actually try to identify the different elements within Jewish culture and identity politics that have led to the rise of AIAPC into the dominant force within American politics and foreign policy.

The Man and his Saxophone take on Whoish Lobby Identity Politics

… by Jim W. Dean, VT Editor

Exile ... BBC Jazz Album of the Year - 2003

Our own staff writer Gilad Atzmon is on tour here in the States through March 16th. Check the tour link to see if you can catch an event.

And yes, he does mix sax and business as his trip is a book promotion tour for The Wandering Who?

The Hebrew Klan does not like Rebel Jews who refuse to wear the robes and hats and participate in their midnight rides to put the fear in folks via their own brand of lynching.

They tried to intimidate his publisher, then the book’s distributor, and then of course get his music gigs cancelled. But all this was to no avail.

Like the Klu Klux Klan who held sway in parts of the States for a while, the public is catching onto and rejecting the Whoish Lobby brutal tactics.

And by public I include all the righteous Jews who are repulsed by them.

Those of us who have been in the social justice battles for many years know that there are many in the Jewish community who talk the talk but won’t do the walk. They love victimhood when the spotlight is on them but then want a free pass when they are dishing it out. There is a disconnect taking place somewhere between.

Is the Angry Arab an Anti-Racist Racist?

 Deliberation's Editor

http://www.deliberation.info/

We have noticed that As’ad Abu Khalil AKA Angry Arab is critical of our writer Gilad Atzmon whom he labels as an anti Semite and a racist.

Angry Abu Khalil failed to substantiate his accusations against Atzmon. Needless to say we also have never found a single anti-semitic or racist argument or statement in Atzmon’s writings.”

antiracist_racistIn the last few days, to our great surprise, we became aware that Angry Abu Khalil is constantly engaged in racially driven theories and his terminology is openly racist. Khalil refers to and interprets people according to the colors of their skin. He is clearly obsessed with White Men and White Europeans . The Angry Abu Khalil web site is saturated with racist remarks and biologically determinist statements. For instance in his blog post  White Man and Paul Newman  Angry Abu Khalil writes “the White Man  is not a racial category–or it is not merely a racial category but also a political and epistemological category.” Not only Angry Arab agrees that ‘White Man’ is partially a racial category, he even goes as far as  linking skin color with political stand  and epistemology. The meaning of it is clear. Angry Arab is a racist  and a biological determinist.   It is more than likely that when Abu Khalil accuses Atzmon for being a ‘racist’ he actually projects from within himself.

For some peculiar reason Angry Abu Khalil portrays himself as an anti-racist. The truth of the matter is more unfortunate. Like his Anti Zionist Zionists (AZZ) allies, Angry Arab is an Anti-Racist Racist (ARR). It is far from surprising that like his Marxist Jewish allies, Abu Khalil was critical of Mearsheimer’s and Walt’s study of the Israeli Lobby. ARR Abu Khalil is basically a racist Zionist collaborator. He is a Sabbath Goy.

The following is an open letter to Angry Abu Khalil by Palestinian activist Sami Ibrahem.

Palestine solidarity movement on the defensive as AGM votes for zionist formulations

The Palestine Solidarity Campaign’s AGM last month resulted in what can only be described as a significant step back for the British anti-imperialist movement and a significant victory for zionism.

The meeting voted to endorse a paragraph that the PSC executive had recently added to the campaign website stating that “Any expression of racism or intolerance, or attempts to deny or minimise the Holocaust have no place in our movement. Such sentiments are abhorrent in their own right and can only detract from the building of a strong movement in support of the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people.” (My emphasis)

That is, they voted to give the PSC’s executive the ability to discipline and expel sincere and useful solidarity activists for committing a ‘crime’ that exists only in the zionist imagination – the crime of ‘minimising the holocaust’. And, whether they realised it or not, they simultaneously voted to endorse the zionist conflation of two terms that have no actual connection: racism and holocaust denial/‘holocaust minimising’.

Not that this is all that surprising in a country where ordinary people are so totally saturated with and generally accepting of imperialist propaganda. Even the fact that the PSC statement referred simply to ‘the holocaust’ rather than ‘the jewish holocaust’ shows how in thrall its writers are to the prevailing imperialist and zionist rhetoric, even if only subconsciously.

We are all ‘holocaust minimisers’

Speaking for the CPGB-ML, I proposed an amendment to the executive’s motion on anti-semitism that asked the campaign to keep to its primary focus of carrying out “effective work in solidarity with Palestine, against zionism and imperialism”. During my speech from the floor I emphasised the point that the more effective and influential the Palestine solidarity movement becomes, the more vociferously it can expect to be attacked by Israel’s supporters – which inevitably means being accused of ‘anti-semitism’ by hysterical zionist campaigners.
