Important video-Palestine in Israeli School Books: Nurit Peled-Elhanan

Alternate Focus interviews Nurit Peled-Elhanan, author of the forthcoming book Palestine in Israeli School Books: Ideology and Propaganda in Education. Nurit Peled-Elhanan argues that the textbooks used in the school system are laced with a pro-Israel ideology, and that they play a part in priming Israeli children for military service. She analyzes the presentation of images, maps, layouts and use of language in History, Geography and Civic Studies textbooks, and reveals how the books might be seen to marginalize Palestinians, legitimize Israeli military action and reinforce Jewish-Israeli territorial identity.

Gilad Atzmon: The BOD is in a Constant Tantrum

Last week the Zionist  Board of Deputies of British Jews (BOD) was desperate to expel me from a Marxist music festival. They obviously failed.   This week the BOD attempts to control the Palestinian Delegation’s web site. The JC reports today that the BOD has “clashed with the Foreign Office over the content of articles on the website of the Palestinian Mission in Britain.”

BOD’s President Vivian Wineman said that the Board was "pretty angry" that the Foreign Office had refused to take action over the mission's promotion of work by Israeli-born ‘antisemite’ Gilad Atzmon. The BOD seems to have a problem, neither the Art Council nor the Foreign Office seem to be convinced that I am indeed an ‘antisemite’....

It seems as if the BOD insists to control the content of the UK Palestinian Delegation’s  site. The website publishes news and information about the Palestinian Authority's UK envoy Manuel Hassassian, as well as "academic links". The site contains the Goldstone Report, material on supporting boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel, and links to articles written by myself including one which accuses Israel of organ trafficking and harvesting.

Laura Stuart: Richard Desmond the Community Services Trust, The Daily Star and the Anti Muslim Agenda

Two days ago I wrote an article "Can the Solidarity Movement Contain Apologists"?, where I highlighted the fact that the issue of Zionist oppression is not only inflicted on the Palestinians, but Zionist lobby groups and Zionist funding is behind the push for never ending war in the Middle East and the "Cold War on British Muslims" here in the U.K. and even in the U.S.A.

No one should look at the "Palestinian Struggle" as an isolated incidence of the failure of the World's governments to stand up for Freedom Truth and Justice by their inability or lack of will to make Israel comply with International Law but we must see the bigger picture for example where America breaks its own constitution such as the suspension of "Habeas Corpus" for extra judicial killings such as Anwar Al Awlaki or the cases of Guantanamo Prisoners. The spying on American Muslims in New York is also in contravention of New York States own laws.

So laws are clearly broken when it comes to how to deal with issues relating to the rights of Muslims be it U.K. Muslims in Guantanamo, especially those who were subject to extra ordinary rendition and torture on their way there, with the complicity of MI5 or evidently in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia, Yemen or Palestine as just some of the places where instant death rains from the skies from drone attacks which kill many innocent civilians or in Iraq where the death toll could be one and a half million or more. Now the Zionist agenda is for another war against Iran where there is a huge push by Israel and western Zionists lobby groups to get the U.S.A. and the U.K. involved in more killing based on very dubious evidence.

Rainlore's World of Music: A review of The Road To Bop (pre concert talk)

Gilad Atzmon & The Orient House Ensemble - The Road To Bop,

The Hideaway, Streatham, London SW16, Saturday, 22nd October 2011

Road To Bob this Weekend:

3 The Road to Bop* / Gilad Atzmon & the OHE, The Edge Arts Centre, Much Wenlock

4. The  606 Lunch time gg is now postponed to the new year. We cannot fit in..

4 The Road to Bop* / Gilad Atzmon & the OHE, Colchester Arts Centre, Colchester

http://www.rainloresworldofmusic.net

The Hideaway in Streatham was a venue entirely new to me. Contrary to expectations, it proved extremely easy to reach from Central London - less than twenty minutes from London Bridge Station, then a two minute walk from Streatham Station. And what a fabulous venue it proved! The staff at the Hideaway couldn't be more welcoming, friendly and helpful. As for the place itself, it is extremely spacious (no tables crammed closely together, you can actually breathe!), attractive, welcoming, has a capacity of some two hundred, and has comfortable and cozy seating areas for non-diners. The view of the stage is good from just about anywhere.

The stage area of the Hideaway is generous by club standards. Sound engineering is excellent, and the acoustics are superb. The baby grand is one of the very best in town.

As for atmosphere, the Hideaway's got plenty, and it's just great. It is not surprising at all that the Hideaway won the Parliamentary Jazz Award for Best Jazz Venue.

But now to last Saturday night's Gilad Atzmon & The Orient House Ensemble - The Road To Bop itself. Slated as a concert with a pre-show talk by Gilad Atzmon on the topic of how bop changed his life and eventually led to his latest scholarly literary work, The Wandering Who? (reviewed here), this proved an irresistible combination.

With the talk scheduled for 7.30, Atzmon and a small number of early arrivals assembled closely around a few tables in the Hideaway's smaller back room just after seven. An intimate discussion developed between Atzmon and the small crowd gathered around him on some of the topics covered by The Wandering Who?, while more and more people started arriving.

By 7.30, the small crowd had grown into a much larger one, and Atzmon commenced his talk on the subject of The Road To Bop, with more people still arriving and pretty nearly filling the room. The talk progressed from Atzmon's discovery of Bird (Charlie Parker) and his burgeoning ambitions to play jazz, with the associated dawning that greatness was not an exclusively Jewish attribute as he had been taught, and how jazz began to re-shape his life through the impact it had on his ethical and philosophical thinking, to the influence this ultimately exerted upon his music (with a few practical demonstrations along the way), and on to the latest fruits of Atzmon's ethical development in The Wandering Who?. After covering salient points of his latest book, Atzmon opened up the session to a question and answer discussion.

Throughout, Atzmon was very much at his ease, speaking with great fluency and eloquence. (He seems to cope better and better with his natural shyness these days.) The talk and discussion were an excellent introduction to  Atzmon's political and ethical views and convictions for those not familiar with them at some depth, and still stimulating for those that were. If you haven't caught one of these The Road To Bop gigs yet and want to discover 'what makes Atzmon tick,' you should try and catch one.

The Chanukah Pantomime

After weeks of relentless attempts by Zionist outlets such as the BOD (Board  Of Deputies of British Jews), Harry's Place and the Jewish Chronicle  to stop me from playing at 'Raise Your Banners' Festival, I  met my  audience in Bradford.

And here is what they had to say....

Laura Stuart: Can the Solidarity Movement Contain Apologists ?

As an activist against Human Rights abuses, particularly of the sort that the Nazi style entity called Israel inflicts on Palestinians on a daily basis, I have been fortunate to be involved in some direct actions which were very effective in exposing among other things the illegal collective punishment on one and a half million Palestinians a.k.a. the Siege of Gaza. More recently I have had the privilege to attend many lectures by intellectuals on various subjects relating to zionism and it's evil ideology. A learning process which often finds me agreeing with most of what someone states as the issues facing Palestinians but perhaps not always agreeing on how each person or group sees the solution, such as was the case with the amazing Dr Norman Finkelstein lecture recently.

All protests, flotillas, convoys and lectures feature people of different religions (or none) from a broad spectrum of political backgrounds, yet amazingly there is a huge amount of solidarity across the board with everyone contributing in many different ways within their own area of expertise. The common thread holding us all together is a firm belief in Truth and Justice.

The Meir Institute report after the Mavi Marmara particularly noted, to their great consternation that Muslims (Islamists as they call politically active muslims) and people from every kind of religious and political background were able to unite against the common enemy of Zionist oppression. This is the real meaning of Solidarity.

Red Scribblings: Political Islam and ‘Jewish identity politics’ – a comparison

Gilad Atzmon: The following lengthy article by Red Scribblings  proves that the issues raised by The Wandering Who are at the centre of today's philosophical and ideological thinking. It is no secret that Zionist lobbies together with some Jewish anti Zionists are desperate to stop the book or its author. I believe that they would actually do themselves a big favour reading the book first.

Political Islamist - Osama bin Laden

Theodore Herzl - Jewish analogue of political Islamist?

The controversy over Gilad Atzmon and his book The Wandering Who, which I recently reviewed on this blog, raises a lot of important questions about history and the politics of the last two centuries. I make no apology for writing about this question again because some of the issues he raises are of great importance to questions relating to war and peace, the nature of contemporary capitalism, national questions and the composition of major classes in society, particularly the capitalist class. All these questions are of central importance to anyone who wants to see capitalism superseded by socialism – they also touch intimately on questions intertwined with the causes of at least one world war in living memory, as well as other traumatic and world historic events including the currents wars and now revolutions shaking the Middle East and neighbouring regions and states. So its pretty important.

Atzmon is not a Marxist thinker, but an idiosyncratic left-wing liberal, born and raised in a racist ethnocracy. His own rejection of a racist upbringing and his privileged birthright as a Jew in a Jewish state, has generated some ferocious rhetoric and not a little incoherence and misunderstanding by friend and foe alike in some cases. But Atzmon’s writings are significant: this is also acknowledged by his enemies, usually rabid Zionists though also a few semi-Bundist socialists who on most issues are on the opposite side of the barricades to the Netan-yahoos. My point here is not to dwell on that conflict, but to acknowledge the significance of his work on ‘Jewish identity’. If it was just, as his enemies proclaim, reheated anti-semitism from the pre-WWII years, Atzmon would be unable to defend himself against a tidal wave of universal opprobrium.

Press TV: Zionists subjugating Britain's culture

http://www.presstv.ir/detail/212062.html

Following revelations last week that Zionist lobbies are feeding mainstream British media, it has now emerged that they are also meddling in the book and music industry of the UK to silence anti-Zionist voices.

Last week the British media carried a report that the news outlets including BBC, Sky News and Financial Times have “changed their narrative” to meet the Zionist regime's demands on the request of pro-Israeli lobbying group, Britain Israel Communications and Research Centre (BICOM).

Now the outspoken anti-Zionist writers and instrumentalist, Gilad Atzmon, says Britain's “Zio-fascists” have been trying to suppress his voice through attempted blocking of his upcoming book title, "The Wandering Who? A Study of Jewish Identity Politics", along with his music.

Lauren Booth: Three people in this marriage. The PSC, the JC and Harry’s Place

Gilad Atzmon: This is a crucial expose by the brave Lauren Booth- Enough is enough...

This week, the Palestine Solidarity Campaign has revealed itself to be ethically compromised at the highest level.

In recent months it has become clear that the central office of the PSC, are increasingly pandering to the whims of Israeli hasbara activists. Joining with the likes of the rabid Zionist site Harry’s Place in efforts to silence some of this movement’s most outspoken and popular, thinkers.

This week, Sarah Colborne, director of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, was quoted in the pro Israeli paper, the Jewish Chronicle, as supporting a boycott of the highly renowned musician and academic Gilad Atzmon. Atzmon was booked to perform in his professional capacity as a saxaphonist at an event celebrating political song in Bradford, called 'Raise your Banners.' The musician/author has recently published his best selling treatise on Jewish cultural identity called ‘The Wondering Who’. A work that, unlike Sarah Colborne, I have actually read, and can highly recommend, as it pulls no punches, when asking to what degree the racist idealogy - Zionism, when mixed with the Jewish sense of ‘Choseness’, is to blame for the existence of todays Apartheid Israel. It has been endorsed by some of the finest thinkers and writers on Israel/Palestine of our age.
But the subject matter alone (predictably) proved more than enough to have Atzmon, once again, falsely, branded an anti semite by the sections of the Jewish diaspora committed to stopping debate into their awkward, yet staunch, support for Israeli war crimes.

I am back from Bradford

http://www.simplyfreeiphone.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/winner.gif4:20 am

In spite of weeks of Jewish extensive and relentless lobbying against me, my message. my book and my music, despite of a  campaign that started with Jewish 'anti' Zionists and ended with a ludicrous demand by the Board of Deputy of British Jews to pull out my concert, Raise Your Banner Music Festival didn't surrender. They stood firmly for truth, justice and freedom of speech.

I guess that the message is clear, the Zionist lobby is  falling apart!!!

The gig was a massive success. the room was sold out. We played for almost 3 hours for the most enthusiastic and supportive audience.

Also, In Bradford last night, there was not a single sign of protest against our concert. I guess that Sayan Nick Lowles who was very active falsifying documents in the name of Hope not Hate, probably realised towards the end of the week that the game was over for him. He is now exposed for what he is- an avid advocate of the Zionist crime.

I am off to bed now.

Truth not lies about Gilad Atzmon

Acording to Bradford activists, the following wil be distributed ahead of my Bradford concert

http://friendsofgilad.wordpress.com

Once again, the unholy alliance of Zionists and Islamophobes which has been trying to stop Gilad Atzmon playing his saxophone in Bradfordhas shot itself in the foot. Not content with misquoting and misrepresenting Atzmon’s analysis of his own Jewish identity, it has now stooped to similar tactics, aimed at a senior Anglican clergyman at the city’s Cathedral.

On November 22, Nick Lowles’ misnamed “Hope Not Hate” website – which would better be called Lies Not Truth – proclaimed: “Dean of Bradford calls for Atzmon’s invite to be withdrawn.” This was a lie.

Immediately Lowles’ claim was drawn to the Dean’s attention, he denied it. He said that he had become aware of the controversial nature, not only of Gilad Atzmon, but also “of the statements made about him”. The Dean has confirmed that he had asked those who had contacted him to provide proper evidence of anti-Semitism by Mr Atzmon, but he says: “I received very little, some of which I could identify as being mis-reporting out of context of the kind to which Mr Atzmon [has] drawn attention.”

And a malpractice to which David Ison has now been subjected.

This sorry affair highlights the need for a critical examination of the role in the anti-fascist movement of Hope Not Hate, the magazine Searchlight, and the “Harry’s Place” blog which hosts Hope not Hate and Searchlight announcements, and which gained the Islamic Human Rights Commission’s Annual Islamophobia Award in 2006.

Searchlight’s links with the British secret services have been known since 1986, when the investigative journalist, Robin Ramsay, reported that “Searchlight is run, if not by, then certainly with the co-operation of, MI5″, (Lobster, No 11, April 1986, p12). The following year, Jewish Chronicle said that Searchlight had “a wide range of contacts (including people in the secret services)”, (Jewish Chronicle 23/10/1987).

Hope Not Hate played a very divisive role inBradfordwhen the English Defence League hooligans threatened to march through the city. Local citizens planned a simultaneous multi-cultural event in the city centre under the rubric of “We Are Bradford” and when plans for this were agreed with the police, a few Hope Not Hate supporters split off and encouraged Bradford City Council to organise a disruptive event well out of the city centre.

As it happened, “We Are Bradford” was supported by several thousand people from all over the country, while the split-off attracted a few hundred.

Gilad Atzmon: Hope not Hate

Hope not Hate is presented as a British anti racist/anti Fascist organsisation  but in fact it   is an offshoot of the notoriously Zionist Searchlight magazine. As if this is not enough, its leader Nick Lowles also co-posts on Harry’s Place, the infamous  anti-Muslim site and winner of the Islamic Human Rights Commission's 'Annual Islamophobia Awards' 2006. Harry’s Place is known as a Hasbara pro-war Neo-Con outlet and is, in my opinion, far more dangerous of any English right wing party. Harry’s Place openly serves foreign interests, and promotes clear racist ideology in clear opposition to everything we hold to be associated with Western pluralism and tolerance.

Could you imagine any humanist, anti-racist posting news items  on an Islamophobic Neocon, Zionist pro-war site? Well, I suppose this is the price that we pay in Britain for turning a blind eye for so long to Zionist stooges.

But now their game is over. I will not be silent about this or anything else - and I am not alone.  Despite not being a member of any party, league or group and although I speak with my own voice, I am surrounded by the most supportive people. Hundreds of thousands of them who, just like me, believe in Truth, Peace and Justice, as opposed to the Lies, Falsification and Deceit of Hope not Hate, Nick Lowels,  Harry’s Place and the rest.

Professing the Crusade: Shedding Light on Come from the Shadows by C. L. Cook

An expose of just another 'moral' interventionist

I recently interviewed Terry Glavin, author of 'Come from the Shadows: the long and lonely struggle for peace in Afghanistan.'

The book is a treatise arguing a necessary continuation of the decades-old war the "West" has waged against "Islamists" and "fascists" in Afghanistan.

Here is a link to an audio file of the interview. (Square brackets indicate the time where a given quote can be accessed. Glavin's segment begins at [35:30]).

Glavin is a Canadian, particularly concerned with Canada's continued contribution to 'The Mission' in Afghanistan. He uses that nation's abject suffering at the hands of the Taliban as justification for the largely unrecorded ISAF slaughter of civilians in their thousands through night raids, drone missile attacks, deaths in custody by torture, (at the hands of Afghan police, military, and the internal security apparatus) and summary execution of suspect "militants."

His mission, he says, is to speak for Afghanistan's women, bringing them universal suffrage and equal rights.

Islamophic Harry’s Place campaigns against Palestinian Shadia Mansour

By Gilad Atzmon

After weeks of intensive campaigning against Norman Finkelstein’s, Sarah Gillepie’s  and my own freedom of expression, the rabid Zionist outlet Harry’s place is now launching a campaign against the Great Shadia Mansour

Apparently they are annoyed by a UK Foreign and Commonwealth ‘s Youtube video produced ahead of the 2012 Olympic Games.

It is pretty staggering that those pro-war who are advocating global wars in the name of ‘freedom of speech’ are apparently adamant opponent of such a freedom here in Britain when it doesn’t suit their  morbid Zio-centric world views.

To watch Shadia's video:

Yet One More Glimpse into Zionist Desperation

By Gilad Atzmon

Yesterday evening Zionist ‘Hope not Hate’ declared victory in their ‘battle against Atzmon’.  “The Dean of Bradford calls for Atzmon's invite to be withdrawn” trumpeted Nick Lowles’ headline on their official blog.

Nick Lowles (only last week exposed here as an avid  Zionist operator) declared that the  “The Dean of Bradford has added his name to the growing chorus of outrage at the decision of Raise Your Banners to invite antisemite Gilad Atzmon to perform for them in Bradford on Friday”.

Lowles was lying. He made it up. When I read the Dean’s words, it was immediately clear that his ‘statement’ was, like other Nick Lowles’ productions - just a stitching together of carefully selected sentences.

Lawless Lowles had claimed that Dean David Ison categorically ruled against myself and the coming concert but (again!) he failed to produce any document to substantiate such a claim. Lowles probably believed that, faced with the usual pressures, David Ison would turn and run for cover. .

But Lowles was mistaken. David Ison is clearly made of stronger stuff because today, the Dean was in touch with both a member of his congregation and myself  and confirmed that he has become “aware of the controversial nature, not only of Gilad Atzmon”, but also of the statements made about Atzmon. The Dean also confirmed that he had asked those who had contacted him to provide proper evidence of anti-Semitism on the part of Mr. Atzmon, but, as he says, he “received very little, some of which I could identify as being mis-reporting out of context of the kind to which you and Mr Atzmon have drawn

Hope not Hate Is Caught Falsifying Documents Again.

Following lies spread by Zionist operator Nick Lowles and Hope Not Hate,  the Dean of Bradford published the following statement:

/Statement from the Dean of Bradford 23rd November 2011:

"Raise Your Banners booked the Cathedral for a concert some months ago, but did not notify us of any controversial issues to do with any of the performers. I have become aware of the controversial nature of Gilad Atzmon and the statements made about him, since being contacted by the Council for Christians and Jews a few weeks ago. The concert was recently withdrawn from the Cathedral owing to slow ticket sales, but had the venue not changed I would have considered not allowing it to take place as, although I have had no clear evidence of anti-semitism or racism, the perception of this around Gilad Atzmon would have made it an inappropriate concert to hold in a religious building.

The headline on the Hope not Hate blog of 22 November, which says that I have called for the concert to be cancelled does not relate my words to their context. I wrote in response to a particular comment on Nick Lowles' blog of 19 November which called for a lobby of the Cathedral and the Bishop to get them to withdraw the invitation to Gilad Atzmon.//The statement clarifies that we did not make the invitation, reiterates that the concert is not happening on church premises, and //raises concerns but does not make allegations about what Mr Atzmon has said; nor does it make a call for the invitation to Mr Atzmon to be withdrawn. I simply say that I am passing on the concerns I had received to Kala Sangam. I do not in the statement tell Kala Sangam what to do with those concerns. I accept that Raise Your Banners and Kala Sangam are making their own judgements about this issue.

Our concern is to be clear that Bradford Cathedral is committed to working for truth, peace and justice for Palestinians and Israelis, of whatever faith." /
